Josh Villani with Coach Dan Gable after winning the Novice 90 lb title at the USWA Kids Folkstyle National Championships in Iowa on April 3, 2005 Josh Villani  with "another world famous coach" at Tulsa Nationals in 2002.    LOL

Congratulations goes out to Josh Villani for capturing the National title in his weight group at the 2005 USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals.  Above is a classic picture of Dan Gable, congratulating Josh, with medal and brackets in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Joshua battled his way through a bracket of over 30 of our nations toughest 11 and 12 year old 90 lb’ers. When the smoke settled down, after the first day of competition, Josh had handled his first 3 opponents from Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota, giving him lots of confidence going into the Semi’s.

The following day, Josh edged out Jordan Wolhfert, Michigan’s, State Champ, in a tough semi-final match. Down 1-0 going into the 3rd round, Josh chose down. Josh finally got the escape tieing the score with 20 seconds to go. Josh then shot and Wolhfert blocked it and reshot and Josh blocked it and got behind him, with 5 seconds to go, for the takedown and a 3-1 victory. At that point Josh's father almost lost it but he kept his composure, thinking, "Josh just beat the toughest kid and he should be able to win in the finals."

Sure enough, in the finals, Joshua captured the National title by handing Minnesota’s state champ, Sam Srock, his first loss of the year, by a score of 7-2.

Josh and his father Patrick have been honored and humbled by this whole experience. They would like to thank God, family and friends for all the love and support they  have been given, for all these years.

Despite all that he has accomplished  in wrestling, Josh is one of the nicest, and most humble kids I know.  He is true role model for other kids and is a credit to his parents.
